Tuesday Photo Challenge – Round Up 54

Colorific beauty!

Welcome to the 54th round up of the Tuesday Photo Challenge!

I went in a completely different direction with the RGB theme, and, given your record thus far, I wasn’t surprised to see a great set of posts with these cool colors!  Not only were your images colorful, but they were also highly creative!  As a result, I had a lot of fun looking at all of your posts (there were many!), for which I thank you!

This week also included some unusual images that were the result of really clever planning and understanding the ins and outs of long exposure photography.  I encourage you to check out all of this week’s entries!

There was a particular image that I captured in the Netherlands that I had in mind when this week’s theme crossed my mind…

Volendam Fishers

Serendipity is my friend on many occasions, such as this one, when I found these fishing boats moored in their colorful best! The town of Volendam is one of the old fishing villages on the Ijsselmeer, which was the Zuiderzee before it was closed off at its Northern side by the Afsluitdijk (literally: Closing off dike).  If you find yourself in the Netherlands, definitely check out the towns around the Ijsselmeer, as they are both picturesque and filled with history.

The following were this week’s participants in the challenge with links to their posts:

  • Xenia posted first this week with a great quadrille and photos in her blog Whippetwisdom.  Later in the week she followed it up with a bit of Wanderlust too: Whippetwisdom.
  • Charles’ trip to Copenhagen generated some great images for this week’s theme in charlesewaugh.
  • iBallRTW provided a great study in light for this week’s theme with a truly imaginative photo!
  • In Danny’s Photographs, we catch a beautiful moment on the shore of Lake Willoughby in Vermont.
  • Ru’s Rue brings us a great moment from an early morning with all our colors represented fantastically!
  • Candace takes us along to Greece  in her post in Netdancer’s Musings with a colorful moment in a local shop.
  • Leaking Ink goes down memory lane and takes us along… definitely worth a visit!
  • Miriam invites us all on a roadtrip in the Showers of Blessing, and yes, we find all the colors we want!

  • Khürt’s images in Island in the Net are filled with color and joy, as he not only captures great blossoms, but also his son and his friends have a blast before their high school prom.

This is another great set of images, posts and participation!  Thanks to each of you for taking the time and being creative!  Now I have to think of another theme!

A Fresh Perspective Photography is more than just a vehicle for capturing the world around me; it provides me with a palette and a set of brushes, with which I paint not only what I see, but also look to express the emotions that are evoked by the scene in front of me in that moment. Growing up in the Netherlands exposed me to a wide cross-section of visual arts that laid the foundation of my photographic view of all that surrounds me. Early influences were the Dutch Masters of the 17th century, to whom I was introduced by my grandfather during museum explorations; favorites among them are the scenes of quotidian life depicted by Jan Steen and Frans Hals and the vivid landscapes of Jacob van Ruisdael. My classical high school education was supplemented by the Boijmans Van Beuningen museum, where I spent many a lunch hour exploring its great collection. Here I was introduced to surrealism with a particular love for the approach taken by Salvador Dali; Dali also rekindled my appreciation for the work of Hieronymus Bosch, who often showed the folly of us mortals. Universal Connections My approach to any photographic subject is to look for understanding first; in this I look to establish either a connection between the viewer and the subject or capture the connection of the subject with its surroundings. The captured image then aims to portray this connection from a perspective that is part of my personal interpretation. This interpretation is often a form of externalized introspection, which may alternately display the connection of isolated beings and items with their environment or highlight the whimsy of the profound world, in which we find ourselves. The universe is full of connections, many of which are waiting to be discovered; part of my journey as a photographer is to document these connections. Any assignment, be it an event, a product shoot or a portrait session is always approached through communication with the client; this is where the first connection is established. Ideas are exchanged and a collaborative plan of action forms, ultimately resulting in a set of images that aim to exceed the expectations of each client. And, lest we forget, it is important to have fun while practicing the serious business of photography!

  1. Hello Frank. Thank you for mentioning me in your post. 🙂
Just a small correction, my name is Rekha, not Rheka. 🙂

      1. No worries, Frank🙂 a lot of people mistype my name. It’s got to do with the keyboard layout. K and H are close by so while typing, they get interchanged. 🙂 Even my manager used to send mails addressing me as rekah or rheka.😀

  2. Wow, Frank. I think this may be the largest set of contributions yet? 🙂 Anyway, it was lovely perusing these posts – the creativity is touching. Thanks for another great photo challenge. Looking forward to this week! Blessings to you, Debbie ps – I may be on the East Coast!

    1. Thank you, Debbie. Yes, it is a great turnout again this week with such great posts! I think that I may have something for this week :-). Have a wonderful week!
