A Yoga Tree Moment

Every sunrise is a story

As I feel that there can never be too much Yoga Tree coverage, I want to share this moment with you:

Morning greets the lady

There’s always a story.
It’s all stories, really.
The sun coming up every day is a story.
Everything’s got a story in it.
Change the story, change the world.

– Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky

The Lady of the Fields gazes across the remainder of the corn crop, as the Sun rises up to greet her.  In this moment from 2014, balance exist between earth, sky and tree, as the universe connects all.  Her story is unfolding that day and beyond.

Technical Details

This is a scene in Baxter State Park in northern Maine that I captured back in 2006 during a weekend filled with moose!  The weather was pouring rain most of the time and densely overcast on this day.  I wound up shooting this at 1/40 sec, f/5.6 at 800 ISO (handheld).

The camera was a Canon EOS 1D MkII with a Sigma 50-500mm lens attached (it’s a beast!).

Quotes of Worth – vol 1

Exploring the unknown

“Whether you succeed or not is irrelevant, there is no such thing. Making your unknown known is the important thing–and keeping the unknown always beyond you.”
– Georgia O’Keeffe

Arbor Fugit

Bringing the unknown into the light, exploring what might lie hidden, changing our view of the world around us, these are all aspect of the Kryptomorphaics series.

Here, in Arbor Fugit, I explore the energies that are stored in this powerful weeping willow, its ability to filter and re-radiate the light that it accepts from the Sun.  One of the surprising aspects to me was the variety in color cast that came from this wondrous tree.

What do you sense in this image?  Does it call out certain things?

The Challenge

On Saturday, I was challenged by MarieMathilda to take on the ‘Three Day Quote Challenge’. As this is one of those fun things that you can do all sorts of things with, I am happy and excited to accept the challenge.

The rules of this challenge are simple:

  1. Post three consecutive days.
  2. You can pick one or three quotes per day.
  3. Challenge three different bloggers per day.

Before I post my selection for quote of the day, I would love to nominate:

  1. Fleeting Muse
  2. Views from the Edge
  3. JustBlueDutch

Have fun with the quote and the challenge, and thanks again to MarieMathilda for the nomination!

The Quote

“If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.”
― Gautama Buddha, Sayings of Buddha

This quote speaks to me on many levels, from being in the present at all times to truly see the flower, to allowing ourselves to be one with the universe.

What do you take away from this quote?

Following in the theme of the Buddha, this quote is of tremendous importance, lest we forget that we may be controlled by the very thoughts that we try to control.

The Quote

“No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.”

The Buddha is a great source for quotes about how me make choices in life, providing great insight rather than a prescriptive recipe.  This one is no exception, as it provides for contemplation and introspection, which can fill us with wisdom.

3 Day Quote Challenge (Day 3)

Where the train takes us may not be important…

p43-20131017-IMG_2454
Past meets present, as we reach infinity.

And better friends I’ll not be knowing,
Yet there isn’t a train I wouldn’t take,
No matter where it’s going.”
