Spring’s Return

Spring refills us with hope.

As we encounter the first day of February, we’re closing in on six more weeks before the seasonal renaissance: Spring! Tomorrow is Groundhog Day and Punxsutawney Phil will emerge and, hopefully, not see his shadow.

While we await Phil’s prognostication, let’s lift our spirits…

Spring’s Return

In this shot from May of 2014, Yoga Tree is almost back to full strength, demonstrating her power of recovery from everything that a New England Winter might throw at her. Let’s look forward to a gentle, warm Spring to arrive soon!

A Change of Heart

Yogic Seasons

The WordPress Daily Photo Challenge provides the theme of Transformation.

One of our most constant companions, that contribute greatly to our existence on this planet, are trees. These stately producers of oxygen, building material, shelter, shade and so much more, were often worshipped in ancient times for the magic they contain. My appreciation of trees has shown itself in quite a bit of my work, and, in particular, one tree: the Yoga Tree.

Over the years, the Yoga Tree has transformed herself in response to the seasons, as well as her environment, as you can see in the Winter images. She has always stood with pride and dignity, even now, when she is surrounded by the detritus that makes up a compost farm…

Here’s a look at some of her transformations…

This tree has brought me much joy over the years that I photographed her, and I hope that some of these images bring a bit of joy to those who view them.

Have a wonderful day!

This too shall pass…

Seasons…

We’re at the stage in Winter when the end is in sight…  We know that there may be some storms that come our way, but with Spring just about a month away, the episodes of polar outreach into New England become shorter and shorter.  The Sun rises earlier each day and gets a bit warmer, as we enjoy its radiance.  We are beginning to feel our bones warming to the thought of surviving yet another season of frigid temperatures!

I, for one, will be sad to see Winter end, but will also be thrilled by the outburst of colors that is brought on by Spring.  So let’s take one more look back at Winter’s beauty…

Winter Revisited

Frosty fractals on twigs made for a fantastic pattern, through which the morning Sun’s rays enchant our eyes.  Let’s enjoy the season, whichever it is, every day!

Chestnuts Roasting

On an open fire!

During this season of peace and harmony (yes, I know I’m an eternal optimist!), it’s a wonderful time to get together with family and think of the possibilities that exist in the future.

Regardless of what that future may hold, it’s a wonderful time to appreciate the simple things in life, such as chestnuts (or marshmallows) roasting on an open fire:

May your season be filled with warmth and togetherness, and may the future hold peace and love throught the world.

WPC – Looking to the Future

Warmer times ahead!

This week’s theme for the DailyPost Weekly Photo Challenge is Future, urging us to focus on the potential of things to come.  I am planning to post several images throughout the week, with today’s image providing a wistful look forward….

Is it beach season yet?

This scene presented itself to me during a walk in one of our local state parks in early April.  Clearly someone was well-prepared for warmer times to arrive soon!

Let’s look forward toward warmer weather!

WPC – Seasons (Summer)

Protectress of the Fields

Stately in Summer

During the hot days of Summer, this proud Lady of the Fields stands coolly among the verdant landscape that surrounds her.  The fields are full of vibrant energy, as the corn is beginning to come up, and the trees in the distance are full of green life.

The Yoga Tree may disguise her form during these months, as she uses the abundance of the Sun’s energy to replenish her stores for the upcoming seasons, but her spirit radiates from every fiber of her being.  She stands as a proud protectress of the fields, where the farmers toil to produce the season’s crop.

Hope you enjoy… tomorrow, we go toward Autumn!
