Tuesday Photo Challenge – Action

Flying through the water…

Welcome to week 199 of the Tuesday Photo Challenge! I’m still wrapping up last week’s round up in between meetings, so it will be later tonight that it appears.

After all this rest, I thought it might be a good idea to get everything moving again, which led me to this week’s theme of Action! There’s always plenty of action around us, so your challenge is to share some of your best captures of that action with all your blogging friends. Of course, as is so often the case with the English language, there are multiple interpretations available to you, so feel free to represent the action of your choosing.

Have fun with this theme! I look forward to seeing your creative output.

Here’s one of my favorite action photos…

Darwin in Action!

Darwin was our first Cardigan Welsh Corgi, and he loved running through water and mud whenever he got the chance. As we were participating in an agility trial next to a small stream, I thought it would be interesting to get a shot of him running through the water. It took a couple of tries to get him lined up just right, which got the above result!

The full rules of this challenge are in TPC Guidelines, but here’s the tl;dr:

  • Write a post with an image for this week’s topic
  • Please tag your post with fpj-photo-challenge (if you’re not sure about how tags work, please check out this WordPress article about tagging posts)
  • Create a pingback link to this post, so that I can create a post showing all of the submissions over the week (note: pingbacks may not appear immediately, as my site is set up to require approval for linking to it; helps against previous bad experiences with spamming)
  • Have fun creating something new (or sharing something old)!!

Jump into action and bring out your best shots!

Tuesday Photo Challenge – Play

Splish, splash, Darwin plays!

Welcome to Week 118 of the Tuesday Photo Challenge!  Your responses to last week’s challenge theme of Treat were not only voluminous, but simply fantastic in quality!

When thinking about the possible follow up to last week’s theme, I thought I’d look for a different treat!  This week’s treat is not only in the theme, but also in its flexibility!  Your challenge is to use the theme of Play in any way that you see fit!  As it can be a verb or a noun, be on the stage or in the backyard, there’s plenty of playroom with the theme!

So, play around with this theme, have some fun and let your creative minds wander about!  I’m looking forward to what you might generate!!

Here’s a bit of play from my memory banks…

Having fun!

This is our old man, Darwin, who passed away last year.  There’s nothing that Darwin like more than playing in water.  For this photoshoot, I found a spot in the shallow stream, where it had a small cascade, so that I could stand lower than Darwin.  With Darwin running towards me, it only took a couple of tries to get this happy, splashing shot!

I’m looking forward to seeing what might ring true in your posts!

Darwin – 10/20/2001 – 3/29/2017

Llanbryn’s Theory of Evolution

Our dogs truly are a part of our family!  Unfortunately, they just don’t ever live long enough to keep us on the right path.  Darwin was more than a dog, as he showed us the way of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi with his tricks and sense of humor, as well as his skills and rugged personality.

As he had started shaking uncontrollably and clearly didn’t recognize us anymore, my wife and I had to make a tough decision today.  We guided our heart dog, Darwin, to the rainbow bridge and allowed him to cross it for evergreen pastures and lots of play with his friends.

What a dog!

Our hearts are broken and we are inconsolable at this time.  Our memories of Darwin will always stay with us.

Happy Birthday, Darwin!

Still crazy after all these years!

When we found this timid little dog about 14-1/2 years ago, he came running to me for protection from his aunts who were running him ragged.  These days, he runs to me every morning to see me with a big smile on his face!

Still making a splash!

Happy 15th Birthday, Darwin!!

Daily Prompt – Buddy

Buddy’s are the best!

Today’s WordPress Daily Prompt brought by the word Buddy!  Of course, all of you know where I’m going with this, as there is no truer friend than a four-legged friend!

Of course, it is impossible to pick a favorite from among our dogs, as that is akin to selecting a favorite child.  So for this prompt, I’m going with our oldest dog, Darwin.

Darwin having fun!

This photo is from about 5 years ago, when he was only 9 years old!  At his current age of 14-1/2 years, he sleeps a bit more, but still knows how to have fun and play, which is amazing.  He may have some health issues at this time, but we’ve got those well in hand, and, as long as his quality of life is good, our buddy, Darwin will continue to live forever!  (I know that I can’t have that wish…)

Do you have a buddy like this?

Thursday’s Dog Star – vol 11

The mind of the dog

Dear Reader, please indulge me in this moment of pure love for the craziest of my canines…  As I’m in the process of reorganizing my disk storage and making it safer and more resilient against failure, I came across this playful image.

Darwin’s Mind

Of course, when your name is Llanbryn’s Theory of Evolution, you have to be an advanced thinker, which Darwin certainly is.  Even at the ripe old age of 14-1/2, this capricious canine still looks to play tricks on his pack mates and human attendants alike.  It is pretty funny, when a dog who usually scares my wife, because he sleeps so deep that he doesn’t feel like waking up when a bomb goes off next to him, all of a sudden grabs a toy and starts racing around the house with it.

Such is the Darwin!

Dogstar Thursday – vol 10

An evolved dog!

Today, I’m posting a memory tht is close to my heart, as it is our ‘Old Man’ Darwin from 5 years ago, when he was just in his 10th year…

Focusing on the Target

Darwin clearly focuses with great intensity on the end of the see-saw, as he knows he wants to keep going as fast as possible to the next obstacle!

Happy Poles!

And he is a master of the weave-poles, which he knows how to enjoy!

Darwin maybe in his 15th year now, but he still runs around like the crazy puppy that he thinks he is, and then sleeps a lot longer than he used to do.

Hope you enjoy this glimpse of our Theory of Evolution!
