Tuesday Photo Challenge – Round Up 67

Woodsy, but never campy!

Welcome to the 67th round up of the Tuesday Photo Challenge! After a very colorful week, we went into the woods for some adventure!

Your views of the woods are as varied as each of your creative minds, which made for both stunning and interesting posts.  This week’s entries often captured the woods in very hospitable and inviting moods, with also a number of mysterious moods that were very interesting to see.  I have some favorites, which I encourage you to figure out!  I’ll love hearing about which posts really spoke to you!

Thanks to all of you for making this another fun week for me to read and view your posts and gather their links!

Here’s a more abstract entry into the magic of the woods…

Forest Aberration

This twist on the woods was created using my Fuji X-T1 camera with a bit longer exposure and some movement to get the flow; note that the movement is not even, so that the bottom of the image gets a longer exposure that is steady, thus giving a point of departure.

The following were this week’s participants in the challenge with links to their posts:

  • Sarah’s post in By Sarah takes us back to another time with the wonderful image of a Wallace Hut.

Beachscape at the Shallow End

Head for safety

Inspired by the WordPress Daily Post theme of Shallow.

There was ample opportunity to go swimming at the beach, if it weren’t for the fact that she was afraid of all that might be swimming in the refreshing ocean water with her.  She had seen Jaws, after all, and Piranha and several other movies that reminded her that the water was not hers alone.  Luckily, she found some shallow water…

Tuesday Photo Challenge – Woods

Sense of adventure

Welcome to Week 67 of the Tuesday Photo Challenge.

While I didn’t take a count of last week’s entries, I do suspect last week’s theme of Yellow may have produced the highest number of entries to date; and they were fantastic!!

This week, I’m sticking with Nature for inspiration with the theme of Woods.  Of course, these woods are not always the friendly, welcoming place that we might like, as we have seen in fairy tales…  Then again, they can provide respite from a long trek in the mossy bed that sprawls among the trunks of whispering trees.  The choice is yours, but I would challenge you to not just photograph the woods; set the mood with your image of what you would like these woods to give us…

As you walk into your favorite woods, open up your mind’s eye and breathe in the atmosphere that resides among the trees; let what it tells you be your guide in creating an image that tells the story of these woods.

And now for a bit of mood setting…

Something in the Woods

The idea of Pan has always been a bit sinister to me, as you know that he can be the trickster of your demise.  Finding Pan in these woods, cross-lit to great contrast, was somewhat unsettling, but also irresistible.  What deal will you make with him for safe passage?

The full rules of this challenge are in TPC Guidelines, but here’s the tl;dr:

  • Write a post with an image for this week’s topic
  • Please tag your post with fpj-photo-challenge (if you’re not sure about how tags work, please check out this WordPress article about tagging posts)
  • Create a pingback link to this post, so that I can create a post showing all of the submissions over the week (note: pingbacks may not appear immediately, as my site is set up to require approval for linking to it; helps against previous bad experiences with spamming)
  • Have fun creating something new (or sharing something old)!!

My curiosity is already kindled by what lays ahead in this week’s creative minds!

Tuesday Photo Challenge – Round Up 66

Yellow: a shade of wonder!

Welcome to the 66th round up of the Tuesday Photo Challenge! This week being color-themed, made for a true cavalcade of yellow in all its beautiful tones, shades and hues!

I through that many of you would go to Nature for your images, as I did, although I have plenty of other yellow subject matter.    Your contributions were magnificent, and it is clear that you invested some quality time in your posts and images.  Among all the great images, I do want to call out one that just blew my mind, as Khürt has stepped up his game to the max with recent photography.  There were some references to music, as Donovan and Coldplay were referenced.  And there’s a car project in need of finishing that I think would result in a fantastic E30!

Thanks to all of you for making this another fun week for me to read and view your posts and gather their links!  You make this worthwhile, even as I have been slacking a bit due to work pressures over the past couple of weeks.

Here’s another blast of yellow from about 8 years ago…

Tuesday Photo Challenge – Yellow

Tone, shade and hue

Welcome to Week 66 of the Tuesday Photo Challenge.

After a week of playing with bugs and their much less creepy cousins, such as bees and butterflies, I think it may be time to go back to the basics!  It’s been a while, since we’ve done a color-based theme, so I thought it might be time.

This week’s theme of Yellow was very much inspired by my checking through some of my photos that I took at Tower Hill Botanic Garden.  This is one of my go-to places for inspiration, as Nature’s shapes, colors and structure never cease to amaze me and refill my sense of wonderment.

Yellow is an interesting color to me, as it comes in many shades and tones, ranging from a warm hue when it’s close to orange to cold, almost antiseptic shades of yellow that might just start an argument.  My personal preference is toward the warmer end of the spectrum, although there is beauty to be found in all its shades.

So, go out into Nature or check around your house for that bit of yellow that catches your eye and just begs to be photographed.  Present it in its best light and form and dazzle your fellow bloggers, with your creations from mellow yellow to streaks of warm sunshine!  Looking forward to your findings and captures!

Here’s a bit of tonal range in yellow with a leafy twist…

Leaf Structure in Yellow

This image goes back 7 years to a sunny day, where the warm rays shone through the amazing structure of this leaf.  Beyond the structure, what struck me about this leaf were its sign of a rugged life, as it hosted many a visitor.

Can’t wait to see what colorful works you will share!

Tuesday Photo Challenge – Round Up 65

Creepy, crawly and beautiful!

Welcome to the 65th round up of the Tuesday Photo Challenge! I was curious to see how you would take the opportunity to explore Bugs this week.

First of all, I was corrected by Khürt’s daughter in that butterflies are not bugs; I have to agree with her, as they clearly do not bug me one bit!  Many of you went into the insect kingdom for your sources of inspiration, where the Lepidoptera were among the favorites.  There were also some wonderful (and playful) ladybugs, and then some outright scary ones!  And there was even one roadworthy bug (go find it…)

All in all, this was yet another week of wonderful contributions and stunning photography, as well as great prose and poetry!  Thank you for the effort that you put into your posts, as I really enjoyed them!

As my initial contribution was not buggy enough, here’s something that should satisfy the purists…

Going for a bite!

During one of my visits to Tower Hill Botanic Garden, I encountered this interloper who had pulled up to the dinner table for a sumptuous buffet!

The following were this week’s participants in the challenge with links to their posts:

  • Nicole started things this week with her post in Une Photo, un poéme, where she captured a bug on a kiwi flower.
  • Sheena takes a different perspective in Leaking Ink, as the insect gets its day in the Sun that it deserves!
  • Raj really put together some gorgeous images in XDrive this week, as he captured a bugs life in all its glory!
  • Bushboy managed two posts filled with lots of lovely bugs in Bushboys World and Bushboys World; very interesting bugs of lots of varieties!
  • By Sarah tells of a personal encounter with bugs that none of us really ever want to see: bedbugs!
  • Gwenn’s entry in Field Notes from Over the Hill shows off some of the beauty of the animal kingdom!
  • Ron truly likes his bugs, as shown in his entry in Progressing into Solitude, with some great creepers!!
  • Maria shows us that bugs can be truly cute in CitySonnet, as the ladybugs are at play!
  • Miriam also brings in the beautiful side of bugs in Showers of Blessing, with some awesome shots!
  • In the blog yourgallerys, this week’s entry is a truly magnificent bug!!
  • Stella shows us bugs of several varieties in a lovely post in Giggles & Tales; I like the butterflies best.
  • Black Body‘s entry shows a truly interesting photo with a great bug and flower!
  • Dawn decided to start a new blog in response to this week’s theme: Snap That Bug!  Her entry is filled with magnificent photography!
  • Robert’s photos in Photo Robert’s Blog show us a ladybug in beautiful black and white!
  • pensivity101 recounts her signature drawing for her handmade cards; what do you think it might be?
  • Following Him Beside Still Waters indicates that she may have a bit of a moth mania; I really like them too, as they are under-appreciated and plain wonderful!
  • Judith brings us bugs in several ways in Nature Knows Best; in design, Nature and on the road!
  • Frank puts together a great photo and poem in Poetry, Short Prose and Walking; interesting what we have in common with bugs!
  • Ladyleemanilla shows off the hardworking side of bees, as she captured them collecting nectar; also, check out her butterfly video!
  • Bullyboy talks about what he wants to do with the bugs he shows in Travel387; I think they are in trouble!
  • Justine’s photos of bugs in Justine Taylor Photography are wonderful; great observation to catch the ant at work!
  • Susan gives us a teensy weensy spider in Musin’ with Susan, which looks a pretty decent size to me.  I won’t share this photo with my wife, as she is not a fan of spiders 🙂
  • I have to give it to Khürt, as his photo in Island in the Net is simply stunning!  I might imagine that the bee even smiled for this shot!

I’m sure that you can find something that bugs you among all these wonderful posts 🙂

Tuesday Photo Challenge – Bugs

Welcome to Week 65 of the Tuesday Photo Challenge.

Last week, I went for a highbrow challenge in going with history and was blessed by an amazing array of responses that informed, touched and truly were a pleasure to read and view.  So this week, I’m taking the low road!

This week’s theme is Bugs!  Creepy, crawly, beautiful or inspiring, bring them all!  Of course, no challenge would be in this list, unless you could take a very different view of it…

I’m very much looking forward to seeing those wonderful bugs of all varieties, but I am also very curious to find what alternate takes will show up for this week’s theme….

Surprise, entertain, fill with wonder, awe or horror!  Have fun with this one!

This is a little item to get you in a beatific mood…
