Why am I not surprised that the theme of Rose caused the cream of your creativity to rise to the top? This was a big week of contributions with tons of roses and some things that rose to the occasion! The rose sky is alos tryly amazing! Tuesday Photo Challenge – Rose

A rose is a rose…

Welcome to week 145 of the Tuesday Photo Challenge.

You nearly broke the bank with all your fantastic entries on the theme of Bank! Time for something a little different for this week, as all of you Rose to the occasion, I thought I’d present you with a Rose for your effort! Yes, I can hear your groans…the puns won’t stop 🙂

Of course, you expected something that would go into the direction of your choosing, and give you the opportunity to release your creative minds to come up with your fantastic posts! Have fun with it and don’t let the color fool you!

Here’s a rose that unleashed mighty energies…

This photo goes back a number of years, as an experiment creating more abstract images. Through use of zoom blur, I got the rose to create an explosion of energies, as an expression of the power that resides within each particle of the universe!

Experimental Photography

From rose to universe

The WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge has the theme of Experimental. Now, I have been know to experiment a bit in my photography, so I thought I’d share one of the the images from those experiments.

A number of years back, I was looking for ways to expand the realm of my photographic endeavors, as I had a sense of restlessness with what I captured; there had to be something more, something that would uncover that which lay just over the horizon of our perception. One constraint that I put upon that work is that it had to be done in-camera, rather than post-production. I had already done quite a bit of HDR work, for which post-production is a key component, and this had to be different.

So, on an evening of sitting around the campfire, I started trying out different zoom blur techniques, which led to a significant amount of output over the following years.

One of these images that generates a lot of interest is this one…

This was from 2011, as I was wandering around the garden at my mother’s house, searching to uncover the energy that is locked up in Nature. This tea rose pulled me in and provided just the right amount of a pose!

Transmogrification – Kryptomorphaics

The WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge is often very interesting, and this week is no exception with the topic of Transmogrification. This topic is near and dear to my heart, as I have a series of abstract images that I title Kryptomorphaics.

The concept behind this series is to reveal that what lies hidden from the eye (crypt-) through transformation (morph-). The details of this series are described in a series of posts that start with TTT – Abstract Photography – ep. 1.

This image is an example of revealing the energy that lies within this lovely rose; it truly vibrates and resonates with the frequencies that traverse the entire universe.

Technical Details

This image was captured with a Canon EOS 5D Mk II using an EF 24-105mm f/4L lens. Exposure settings were 1/3 second with f/16 at 200 ISO; a zoom blur technique was used to create the effect in camera.

7-Day Nature Photo Challenge – Day 2

I was nominated by a fellow blogger, Project Relish, for a 7-Day Nature Photo Challenge.

So for the next week, let’s see, if I can come up with some interesting nature images and pass the challenge onto some of my fellow bloggers.

This image came from arriving at a golf course, as the sun was still making its presence felt. What came to mind was Homer’s oft-used epithet for Eos, the goddess of Dawn, the rosy-fingered Dawn.

This image also gives me a sense of the cycle of death and renewal, as petals are dying on this rose-bush, while buds are showing the promise of new growth.

Technical Details

This image was captured with an iPhone 4S using the standard camera app and treated through Instagram.

Kryptomorphaics #10 – Rose Particle

A rose is a rose full of energy

Image Description

As the title ‘Rose Particle’ suggests, this image centers on the streams of energy emanating from the singularity presented by the dark pink rose. The rose becomes at once the object of beauty, to which our eyes are drawn, and the center of energetic particles radiating outward from the forces contained within it. As each object within the universe holds latent energy, so does the rose, as it demonstrates here. The counter play between beauty and strength is as the yin and yang, the duality that resides within each of us. This duality is held together through the cosmic vibrations, which can be ascertained in moments of great quietude of mind and body, such as achieved during meditation.

Whereas the rose has revealed its cryptic energies through this image, one may find that the image enables the centering of similar energies. If the image is studied while directing focus on the process of breathing, as one does in meditation, the rose may become a guide.
