Tuesday Photo Challenge – Tomorrow

Crossing into tomorrow…

Welcome to week 213 of the Tuesday Photo Challenge!

You spread the love in your entries for last week’s theme, so I’ll now take you just a little bit into the future. As I looked through candidate images for this week, I came across one that made me think of what Tomorrow might bring. Is it an exciting sense of exploration, the opportunity to discover what lies ahead?

For this week your challenge is to share images that give you a sense of what tomorrow might hold in store; feel free to be fanciful and imaginative. This is one where I very much look forward to seeing what Tomorrow will bring!

As I let my mind’s eye guide me across the bridge…

Bridge to…

This shot came about during a walk with my great friend, George, architect and photographer extraordinaire! The light caught my eye as it played across the pine needles and brought variety of tone and color between foreground and background. Locking in on the branch, this composition came about.

The full rules of this challenge are in TPC Guidelines, but here’s the tl;dr:

  • Write a post with an image for this week’s topic
  • Please tag your post with fpj-photo-challenge (if you’re not sure about how tags work, please check out this WordPress article about tagging posts)
  • Create a pingback link to this post, so that I can create a post showing all of the submissions over the week (note: pingbacks may not appear immediately, as my site is set up to require approval for linking to it; helps against previous bad experiences with spamming)
  • Have fun creating something new (or sharing something old)!!

Stay safe and share your tomorrows!

Tuesday Photo Challenge – Connect

A trip into darkness…

Welcome to week 205 of the Tuesday Photo Challenge!

What the world needs now… No, I’m not breaking out into a Hal David and Burt Bacharach pop tune! During this time of social distance, it is more important than ever that we connect with one another. I thought the theme of Connect might make a lot of sense. So, your challenge is to capture anything that either connects or with which you feel connected.

The only requirement to your interpretation of the theme is that you have fun with it (and be safe). So let’s connect through our images!

This bridge makes a connection between two shores…

Surreal Connection

Yes, you guessed it: there was a bit of editing involved. In a case, such as this, I look to portray the mood or concept that I want to express in an image. I originally shot this well-graffitied bridge as a series of varying exposures to have all the data I needed for HDR processing. After processing the basics in Aurora HDR, I jumped into Photoshop. With the help of the Luminar 4 plugin, I changed the look of the bridge, and added a different sky. A bit more magic in Photoshop to skew the metal of this bridge in a slightly altered shape completed the mood to create this Surreal Connection. For the purists, I agree with you that this is no longer a photo, but that was not what I was after…

The full rules of this challenge are in TPC Guidelines, but here’s the tl;dr:

  • Write a post with an image for this week’s topic
  • Please tag your post with fpj-photo-challenge (if you’re not sure about how tags work, please check out this WordPress article about tagging posts)

  • Have fun creating something new (or sharing something old)!!

May you and yours be safe and healthy, and connect across the globe through the blogosphere!

Tuesday Photo Challenge – Round Up 83

Lovely connections made!

Welcome to the 83rd round up of the Tuesday Photo Challenge!  My apologies for posting this round up a bit late, as I have been a bit busy this past weekend.

Your entries into this week’s challenge were not just fantastic, they showcased the connections made by bridges in lots of wonderful ways!  It was lovely to see the human bridges, as well as physical bridges; Nature also played a key role in some of your posts, much to my enjoyment!

Thank you all for great posts!

Sometimes a bridge provides us with quiet reflection…

Quiet reflection

During a morning exploration, I found this beautiful new bridge that makes up part of a trail system. On this particular day, the river was smooth as glass, allowing for a crisp, clean reflection.

The following were this week’s participants in the challenge with links to their posts:

  • Sarah takes us to the joy of her wedding day in By Sarah; wonderful moments! In a second post in By Sarah, we are treated to her jumping off a bridge (don’t worry!)
  • In his post in In My Mind’s Eye, Ed captures a wonderful scene with a lovely bridge crossing a fantastic little stream!
  • This week’s entry in theonlyD800inthehameau shows us some great photos of classic medieval bridges!
  • Xenia’s post in whippetwisdom shares one of those magical whippet dreams of the bridge between wind and waves; beautiful!
  • Gwenny takes us across the bridge in her post in Field Notes from over the Hill!  There’s also a classic crossing for trains in her post!
  • In Land of Images, we get a view from a punter on the river Cam, as we approach a bridge; where could we be?
  • Let’s Take a Walk and discover… to find a bridge that is not across water; great capture by Michelle!
  • In Folly’s Photoworld vol. 2, Petra has a wonderful array of bridges and beautiful settings, some of which take us into a fairy tale!
  • This week, pensivity101 takes us back to the golden age of trains, when steam filled the sky and their sound echoed among the hills.  Lovely times!
  • In Urban Liaisons, we are invited to cross the chasm way up high, across a bridge that is not for the faint of heart!
  • Nicole features a bridge across the river Seine in Une Photo, Un Poeme, which is not only long at more than a mile, but also has a span over half a mile between two piers!
  • In iball round the world, we learn about the subtle art of one of the most prodigioius hunters: the souvenir seller in Viet Nam!  Great post!!
  • Debbie brings us something unusual in Travel with Intent, as she captures a bridge without traffic in Scotland!  Find out why…
  • Robert’s images are always wonderful, and his contributions to this theme in Photo Roberts Blog are no exception!
  • Candace’s post in her blog Netdancer’s Musings presents us with a wonderfully framed image to give a view from a bridge…

Hope that you enjoy these posts!

Tuesday Photo Challenge – Bridge

Welcome to Week 83 of the Tuesday Photo Challenge.

You definitely showed the importance of keeping track of all things, including the Kitchen sink, in last week’s contributions! They were absolutely stunning!

This week’s theme came pretty easily to me, as I came up with the theme before looking at images; once I had the theme, finding the image was a piece of cake! In the current environment of discord and lack of connections, I thought that the theme of Bridge might be appropriate.

Of course, bridge is both a noun and a verb, which means that you can take this theme into any direction of your choosing! Unleash your creative urges and find the place to cross the chasm with your bridge! Most of all, have fun with it!

Here’s that image that came to mind right away…

Northborough-Aqueduct_14E0374_5_6_7_8_final
The Aqueduct

This wonderful aqueduct was part of my daily commute to one of my prior jobs; it always caught my attention, as it has such classic lines in its construction. On this particular day, the light showed of some its great qualities to create a complete scene.

I’m looking forward to seeing what catches your eye this week…

Three Line Tales – Week 2

Crossing the chasm is
A risky business at best.
Should I stay or go?

****

Thank you to Sonya of Only 100 Words for coming up with Three Line Tales.

The TLT rules are simple:

  • Take a look at the photo prompt and write three lines to go with it.
  • Your lines can be poetry, micro-fiction, micro non-fiction or just a really long caption – everything goes as long as it’s three lines long.
  • A link back to this post would be nice (it’ll make me feel obliged to swing by yours to read your three lines, and some of your readers might want to join in, too – the more, the merrier, right?).
  • Tag your post with 3LineTales – it’ll make it easier for others to find it in the Reader.
  • Read other participants’ lines.

Please check Sonya’s post Three Line Tales – Week Two for detailed instructions.
