Yes, kids of all ages, it is that time of year!! Everyone will be watching the flightpath of a certain jolly old elf, as he departs from his workshop on the North Pole to make a trip around this globe of ours…
He’s on the way!
A little bit of fun with editing to create this image. The base image is a 131 second exposure at 100 ISO that I took back in 2014 with a Canon EOS 5D Mk III and a Canon EF 24-105mm L IS USM lens. The flying Santa background is thanks to Skylum, who provided this for their Luminar customers.
Have a wonderful weekend, and I hope that you’re enjoying the holiday season!
Welcome to the 192nd round up of the Tuesday Photo Challenge!
As we’re closing out the December Holiday season, I was blown away by the fantastic responses to this week’s prompt! It definitely made my reading all your posts a lot of fun that some of you took it outside the holiday season and that there were some light-hearted fun messages along with many great sentiments!
I hope that you enjoy this season and wish all of you a healthy, happy and prosperous 2020!
Here’s another holiday sentiment….
Peace on Earth!
This photo came about during a visit to a holiday display 8 years ago; it caught my eye, as the message of Peace on Earth is appropriate for all humanity. It’s something that I think many of us can agree on!
Please enjoy the following blog posts:

Please let all of these great bloggers know your thoughts about their posts!
Welcome to week 192 of the Tuesday Photo Challenge!
You were wonderful in your creativity on the Common theme of last week! This inspired me to get a little creative with this week’s theme of Holidays! December is a month, during which Holidays are in the air, as we celebrate the Winter Solstice and our re-emergence from the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. We invoke the magic of the solstice and the season in our celebrations, as Santa delivers his presence, Saint Nicholas visits the Netherlands, and the Krampus might just be around for those naughty kids.
The challenge for this week is to bring out the magic that you find in the season and share it with one another!
Please enjoy the peace and magic of the season, as you invoke the magic of your creativity!
Santa might be in the air…
There’s Magic in the Air!
A special thanks to Luminar 4 and Skylum in providing the Fairytale Sky package. This sky is pure magic and allowed me to do a bit of creative editing, starting with a night-time image of Nubble Light on Cape Neddick in Maine, which I captured just of 5 years ago. I’ll admit that I’m rather pleased with the results.
The full rules of this challenge are in TPC Guidelines, but here’s the tl;dr:
Create a pingback link to this post, so that I can create a post showing all of the submissions over the week (note: pingbacks may not appear immediately, as my site is set up to require approval for linking to it; helps against previous bad experiences with spamming)
Have fun creating something new (or sharing something old)!!
Let the magic of the season wash over you and fill your creative minds!
As I mentioned last week’s post, Khürt Williams start this awesome new photo challenge series, the 52 Week Smartphone Challenge, which is described in the link. The concept is fairly straightforward and inspired by the great quality cameras that are in smartphones these days: shoot something that goes with the them and pingback/tag it to have it show up under the challenge.
The second week’s theme is ‘Rule of Thirds’: “You already know what the Rule of Thirds is, now is the time to use it”
Holiday Lights Galore!
This photo is one that I shot over the last week, as kind of a drive-by image. My wife had mentioned that there was this awesome display on a side street. Well, we found it!! The big, bright red lights are flood lights for their mini-ice skating rink! I took this shot with my iPhone 11Pro Max using the NeuralCam app. This app has become one of my favorite photography tools!
During this season of peace and harmony (yes, I know I’m an eternal optimist!), it’s a wonderful time to get together with family and think of the possibilities that exist in the future.
Regardless of what that future may hold, it’s a wonderful time to appreciate the simple things in life, such as chestnuts (or marshmallows) roasting on an open fire:
Chestnuts Roasting
May your season be filled with warmth and togetherness, and may the future hold peace and love throught the world.
