Welcome to week 153 of the Tuesday Photo Challenge.
In case you wondered, last week’s contributions were absolutely wonderful! To put it simply: all of you Rock!! Which leads me to this week’s theme: Rock… Looking through photos for inspiration, it struck me that this theme would allow for all of your creativity to be used. Whether you feel like rocking the cradle or the boat, or be as steady as the Rock of Gibraltar, go for hard rock or soft rock, there might be something in this theme just for you!
I’m looking forward to find out what kind of fun you can dream up for this week! Have fun with it!
Sometimes, the rock gets ground down into something small and smooth…
Pebbles!
When I encountered these pebbles on the beach, I knew there would be something here to capture… It’s almost like a pattern was laid out in these pebbles, waiting to be uncovered!
The full rules of this challenge are in TPC Guidelines, but here’s the tl;dr:
Create a pingback link to this post, so that I can create a post showing all of the submissions over the week (note: pingbacks may not appear immediately, as my site is set up to require approval for linking to it; helps against previous bad experiences with spamming)
Have fun creating something new (or sharing something old)!!
Can’t wait to see how you’re going to rock this theme!
Welcome to the 152nd round up of the Tuesday Photo Challenge!

Whether you want to feature the Wonders of Nature, the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World or make us wonder what you may have photographed, there are plenty of directions for you to take this theme! And, of course, I expect all of your ideas to be wonderful!!

Giant Swallowtail
This gorgeous Giant Swallowtail was sitting perfectly still, allowing me to get a nice sharp focus that highlights all the amazing details of this stunning creature. One of these days, I will have to prepare a large print to bring out the colors of the individual hairs that truly stand out!

Here’s a sunrise from a number of years ago…
Sunrise over Warfield Ridge

Sometimes, one comes upon an object that is unusual, that catches the eye. Such was the case of a tree that I saw in the garden of Dunvegan Castle.
Araucaria araucana (commonly called the monkey puzzle tree, monkey tail tree, piñonero, or Chilean pine) is an evergreen tree growing to 1–1.5 m (3–5 ft) in diameter and 30–40 m (100–130 ft) in height. It is native to central and southern Chile, western Argentina. Araucaria araucana is the hardiest species in the conifer genus Auracaria. Because of the longevity of this species, it is described as a living fossil. It is also the national tree of Chile. Its conservation status was changed to Endangered list by the IUCN in 2013 due to the dwindling population caused by logging, forest fires, and grazing.
Monkey Puzzle Tree
As you can see from the people standing next to the tree, this tree is impressively tall; I would estimate this tree to be between 20-25m tall, which is an impressive sight.
This particular tree stands in the gardens of Dunvegan Castle, the seat of the MacLeod of MacLeod, the chieftain of clan MacLeod. This castle on the Isle of Skye is well worth the visit, as its gardens are a thing of beauty!

Welcome to week 151 of the Tuesday Photo Challenge.
This week’s theme is another instance of surprised that I haven’t used this theme before! While Morning has been a theme, Sunrise has not been used yet. As I always look for the themes to be accessible to everyone, I figured that the Sun is available to most of us, Earthlings. Of course, it does happen early in the day, so night owls might be disadvantaged, but I’m sure their creative minds can come up with a workaround for rising early!
Most of all, have a lot of fun with this theme!!
This sunrise is from last week…
A Cold Morning
I had the fun of spending a day with fellow photographers, braving the cold of the Maine coast! The temperature at this time was only 3F(-16C), but the sunrise was spectacular, and putting it behind the Portland Head lighthouse made for a dramatic image…
The full rules of this challenge are in TPC Guidelines, but here’s the tl;dr:
